The Importance of Parent Communication
Parent communication is absolutely essential when it comes to your students having a successful education. Providing ample opportunities for the parents to be involved in their child's education is something I strongly believe in. Having parents involved in what their child is learning creates an atmosphere of trust and community within the classroom. Some ways to keep the parents informed and creating an open line of communication are "Meet the Teacher" Letter, a weekly newsletter, and sending home zip kits. Below are some of my personal examples of previous communication tools between me and my students' parents!
Meet The Teacher Letter

Weekly Newsletter
I have created my weekly newsletter on Smore, which is an online flyer website. It is a creative and easy way to send out important information that is coming up in the classroom. I even put a place to celebrate students, this shows the parents how each student is important to me, including their child. I give helpful websites that can help parents understand what we are learning in class for that unit, as well as provide extra help to the students if they need it. The newsletter also includes my office hours, contact information, as well as our class schedule. Being able to send out this link in a quick email, is more convenient for parents instead of sending home a paper newsletter with the student that may be lost in transition.
Zip Kit
I have created a Zip Kit that I can send home with my students for homework. This kit is filled with an activity that reinforces some of the lessons being taught in class during a unit. The kit is to be worked through together by the students and parents. This involves the parents in their child's learning and allows them to understand what is happening in my classroom, reinforcing community and communication between parent and teacher.
